KLC

I’ve been working on a furniture project to help out my friend Kenta with a VIP room he designed for THE new spot in town.

Here is a sneak peek at the first one to come out of the shop:

KLC

This has been ALOT of work.  Materials are CNC lasercut steel plate, cold-rolled steel rod and baltic birch.  All components are assembled using standard 1/4-20 socket cap screws to facilitate moving, shipping, and replacing parts.  The design brief was to produce a chair where the base structure melted into a black background, allowing the light colored seat and back to appear as though they were “floating” in the black space.  Details and photos of the pieces in the room to follow when we complete the project.

Island Hop

The final long weekend of the summer is Labour Day and is always dreaded by students because the following day is the start of school.  This is good news for us because it means the city quiets down abit, and the camping grounds finally empty out and the ferry lineups die down.  Lucky for us, we were able to take another boat trip up to the secret island spot, here are a few highlights.  As always, a huge thank you to BK and family for hosting.

A barn is a real home:

Typical of the Pacific Northwest, we got a mix of glassy water, squalls, thunderstorms, clear sunny breaks – all of it was lovely, especially when you can chill in a place like this:

Never a shortage of good eats.  Thanks for the incredible nabe (hotpot) Sisley!

SISHOTPOT

At least one clam-digging mission is mandatory per trip – it also gives us a chance to walk through the community and check out the neighbors great spots.

On the way home, a much needed break in the Pirate’s Cove – the Captain here throwing down the anchor:

Can’t wait for the next trip…

Sandinista Home Renovations

After much hard work, the server has been moved, and the site hugely updated…Autumn Winter 2009 catalog and images are available for viewing and don’t forget to check out the new killer music mix by our very own Sipreano – another all original, all Canadian mix.  You won’t find this stuff anywhere else, guaranteed.  The Tokyo staff will also be adding their own take on things with a new blog, so please check it for delivery information.  Have a look around and make yourself at home.

Nomad’s Inn

The brothers over at Euphoria Factory have once again outdone themselves. If you haven’t checked already, the nonnative website has been updated with a seriously innovative way of presenting lifestyle (read: fashion). In contrast to the instant gratification of twitter, etc…this reminds me of the good old days when you actually had the patience to wait 5 minutes for the flash movie to load. So go to the site, put the espresso pot on the stove top, and then sit back and enjoy.

Sandinistas Update

Visitors may have noticed that the actual website hasn’t been updated in awhile. We finally decided to move the website design over to Japan, to help out with logistics, translations, etc…so please stay tuned. In the meantime, here are a couple teasers from the upcoming lookbook for Autumn/Winter 2009. The lineup is looking so good, I’m really looking forward to seeing these pieces in production. Hopefully I will get the go ahead to post up the entire lookbook sooner than later.
